API CPD Courses

I4I Academy provides API CPD courses for inspectors seeking to meet Continuing Professional Development requirements for API 510, API 570, and API 653 recertification. As of January 1, 2023, CPD hours are a mandatory requirement for renewing these API certifications.

Detailed CPD requirements are published by the API Individual Certification Program. API provides an official document explaining CPD hour definitions, acceptable activities, and documentation requirements.

What type of API CPD courses accepted?

The summary is that API requires 24 CPD hours for each three-year recertification cycle for API 510, API 570, and API 653. CPD activities must be directly related to inspection and mechanical integrity topics applicable to the certification.

Generally, the welding, coating, asset integrity, corrosion, and related codes and standards courses are acceptable. However, the course you take shall have a final exam at the end, and you shall receive a passing score. The courses that do not offer a final exam at the end will not be accepted by API as CPD hours.
